About Us - History

We’ve been around awhile.

Fullmer’s Landscaping began as the one-man operation of Lloyd E. Fullmer back in 1962. From a backyard nursery and a few simple jobs in those early years, Fullmer’s has grown to the full-scale operation it is today. Although we've grown considerably in those nearly fifty years, we've never lost our distinct family atmosphere and simple commitment to long-lasting relationships.

It really began in 1962 when Lloyd Fullmer began growing a few nursery items behind his home. He had decided that his current job at an auto body shop just wasn't going to be a lifetime of satisfying work, so he ventured into the landscaping industry to exercise his love for horticulture.

The year was 1972, and Fullmer's Landscape and Nursery was growing - too big for Lloyd's basement. He moved his office into a new shop, still on his home property.

Lloyd prides himself with being the first landscaper to bring the concrete paver to the Dayton region. It ocurred on a job he installed in 1978. It was a little paver patio at a residence; incidentally, the owner of that residence is a happy Fullmer's client to this day!

During this year, Fullmer's Landscaping became an incorporated company. This change prompted us to refine our record-keeping and improve our business model overall.

In 1985 we began an exciting project that wasn't on our home turf. Instead, it was in the sunny Virgin Islands at a resort on Pineapple Beach. We saw this landscaping process through from design to completion, working with tropical theming, site layout, and horticultural planning.

In 2005, Lloyd's eldest son Kent Fullmer assumed ownership of the company. Kent continues to lead this second-generation company with passion and integrity to this day.
